Kosovo union demands 600 euro minimum wage and improved safety
Jusuf Azemi, chairman of the Private Sector Independent Union of Kosovo, has called for the minimum wage to be increased to 600 euros starting January 1 of next year.
Azemi also highlighted significant safety concerns in the workplace, noting that the number of workplace deaths in Kosovo is four times higher than in neighboring countries. He attributed these high rates to a shortage of inspectors and personnel with sufficient expertise in occupational health and safety laws. While acknowledging efforts by the Labor Inspectorate to improve conditions, Azemi emphasized that increasing the number of qualified inspectors is essential for better safety outcomes.
