Kostadin Kostadinov proposes active neutrality for Bulgaria
Kostadin Kostadinov, the presidential candidate for the Vazrazhdane party, has outlined a campaign platform centered on Bulgarian independence, national security, and active neutrality. During various campaign stops in cities such as Plovdiv and Asenovgrad, Kostadinov and his running mate, Petar Volgin, emphasized the need for Bulgaria to remain independent of foreign conflicts, specifically the war between Russia and Ukraine.
Kostadinov proposes that if elected, he would declare a policy of active neutrality, meaning Bulgaria would not support either side of the conflict and would cease the export of weapons to Ukraine. He argued that current military aid to Ukraine makes Bulgaria an active participant in the conflict and increases national risks. Additionally, he advocated for the modernization of the Bulgarian military, including the development of domestic drone defense systems and the strengthening of the national defense industry.
In addition to foreign policy, the campaign highlights five key priorities: Bulgarian independence, peace preservation, national security, economic prosperity, and scientific and educational advancement. Kostadinov also noted his background in the Air Force to underscore his readiness to serve as Commander-in-Chief.
