Kostas Agorastos addresses errors in reconstruction payment orders

Former Thessaly Regional Governor Kostas Agorastos has addressed discrepancies found in previously released payment orders related to post-disaster reconstruction works. Agorastos stated that the inconsistencies in the documents were the result of a technical error during the processing and merging of two separate original documents using a photo editing application.

He explained that his intention was to merge the payment orders of two companies, ‘BINTAS IKE GERANOI – SPECIAL TRANSPORTATIONS’ and ‘TSAPATORIS GERANOI – TRANSPORTATIONS IKE’, to allow for easy visual comparison and to disprove allegations of overpricing. However, the merging process caused elements from the two documents to mix, creating new files with obvious errors that differ from the originals in the case file.

Agorastos maintains that his original claims regarding the misleading nature of certain reports remain valid, asserting that the actual data in the payment orders does not support conclusions of overpricing. He has released the original, unmerged documents to clarify the situation.
