Kostas Karamanlis honors footballer Antonis Antoniadis in Xanthi

Former Prime Minister Kostas Karamanlis honored veteran footballer Antonis Antoniadis during an event organized by the Municipality of Xanthi. The gathering was held to mark the publication of the book ‘The General and the Cannoneer - The Short and the Tall’ by journalist Kostas Bliatskas.

During his speech, Karamanlis praised Antoniadis for his significant contributions to Greek football and his historic performances with Panathinaikos, specifically recalling his goals against Everton, Red Star Belgrade, and Ajax during the 1971 European Cup campaign. He highlighted the seamless partnership between Antoniadis and Mimis Domazos, describing their coordination as a ‘choreography’ of footballing intelligence.

Karamanlis also used the occasion to express his condolences regarding the recent loss of Air Force pilots in Tanagra.
