Kostas Kazakos: Remembering the Greek actor and politician

Kostas Kazakos, a prominent Greek actor and politician, is remembered four years after his passing at the age of 87. Kazakos had a distinguished career in both theatre and cinema, becoming one of Greece’s most significant performers.

In theatre, he performed in works by authors such as Bertolt Brecht, Arthur Miller, and Sophocles, and was part of notable troupes including those of Katina Paxinou and Elli Lambridi. His cinematic legacy includes roles in films such as ‘The Block’ (1965), ‘The Avenue of Hate’ (1968), and ‘Iphigenia’ (1977). He was also part of one of Greece’s most iconic artistic couples alongside actress Zeni Karezi.

Beyond the arts, Kazakos was a dedicated member of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE), serving as a Member of Parliament from 2007 to 2012. He was known for his political activism and his involvement in radio broadcasting.
