Kostas Lalios Announces New Book on Mount Athos and the Eternal State

Former PASOK figure Kostas Lalios is finalising a new essay that explores Mount Athos and the concept he terms the “Eternal State”. The work is presented as a tribute to five influential Greek personalities – former prime minister Andreas Papandreou, writer Kostis Moskov, Elder Vasileios Gontakakis, Archbishop Anastasios Yannoulas and Dionysios Sabbas – and examines their impact on his thinking and on the monastic tradition.

The book is organised into four inter‑related sections covering Mount Athos as a symbolic “ark” of Orthodoxy, its cultural and ecological significance for Greece, Europe and the wider world, and a detailed programme for the renewal and reconstruction of the Athonite heritage.
