Kostis Hadjidakis visits Pieria to review infrastructure and development

Government Vice President Kostis Hadjidakis led a delegation to the Pieria region to review infrastructure projects and discuss development prospects. Accompanied by Deputy Minister of Interior Kostas Gioulekas, the visit included meetings with local business associations, residents, and officials in Katerini.

During discussions at the Katerini Town Hall, officials addressed the region's current needs and ongoing development plans. Hadjidakis inspected progress on several projects, including the construction of the Katerini Music School and a new cultural center. He also reviewed technical works in the Pydna-Kolindros municipality.

A major focus of the visit was the international significance of Mount Olympus. Hadjidakis highlighted the importance of its status as a UNESCO World Heritage site, noting that this designation necessitates a focus on sustainable development to balance the region's natural wealth with its primary production and tourism sectors. The government intends to support these efforts through a Local Development Plan in cooperation with local society.
