Koszalin President protests Bandera commemoration in partner city

Tomasz Sobieraj, the President of Koszalin, has issued a formal letter to Ruslan Marcinkiv, the Mayor of Ivano-Frankivsk, protesting the commemoration of Stepan Bandera and organizations such as the OUN and UPA.

Following appeals from local political activists, Sobieraj called for an end to actions that could be interpreted as glorifying nationalist ideologies and individuals responsible for crimes against the Polish population. The dispute arises from activities in Ivano-Frankivsk, which is a partner city of Koszalin, including children's competitions and proposals for street naming related to these historical figures.

Sobieraj emphasized that municipal partnerships must be based on mutual respect and cannot imply silence regarding anti-Polish ideology.
