Kota Belud traffic accident kills woman, injures two teenagers

A 42-year-old woman died and two teenagers were injured following a collision between a Perodua Alza and a 10-ton sand truck in Kota Belud, Sabah. The accident occurred around 11:05 AM on the Kota Belud-Tuaran road near Taman Nikmat.

Preliminary investigations suggest the MPV, traveling from Tuaran toward Kota Belud, entered the truck's lane and struck the right side of the heavy vehicle. The impact caused the car to spin. The female driver was trapped in the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene by medical officers from the Ministry of Health Malaysia.

Among the passengers, an 18-year-old male sustained serious injuries, while a 15-year-old female suffered minor injuries; both were transported to Kota Belud Hospital. A 17-year-old male passenger was uninjured. Fire and rescue personnel used specialized equipment to extricate the victims from the wreckage.
