Kota court sentences juvenile to 20 years for minor rape
A POCSO court in Kota has sentenced an 18-year-old male to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment for the rape of a minor. The incident occurred in September 2024, when the accused held the victim captive for several days.
Because the accused was over 16 at the time of the offense, the Juvenile Justice Board transferred the case to be tried as an adult. In addition to the prison sentence and a fine of 6,000 rupees, the court issued a unique rehabilitative order. Until the convict reaches the age of 21, he must engage in daily social and educational activities, including two hours of study, two hours of tree planting, and one hour of service to the helpless at a shelter. He will be transferred to a central prison once he turns 21.
