Kota Samarahan opens RM1.9 million event venue to boost economy

On 1 August 2026 the Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS) inaugurated a new RM1.9 million site in Kota Samarahan, Sarawak, Malaysia. The upgraded facility, converted from an open field, is designed for large‑scale programmes and was first used for the Jom Heboh Segulai Sejalai Sarawak concert.

Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said the venue will strengthen public facilities, support future large events, stimulate the local economy and create income opportunities for local entrepreneurs and government agencies.
