Kota Takai joins Sint-Truiden on loan from Tottenham
Japanese defender Kota Takai has joined Belgian Pro League side Sint-Truidense V.V. on a season-long loan from Tottenham Hotspur. The move was finalized during the closing stages of the summer transfer window.
Takai, a 21-year-old center-back, previously spent the second half of last season on loan at Borussia Monchengladbach. The decision to move to Sint-Truiden was described as a strategic choice to ensure regular playing time and professional growth. Takai noted that the Belgian club’s playing style, characterized by energy and confidence, aligns with his own approach to the game.
Sint-Truiden’s CEO praised Takai as an ‘ideal defender’ with a modern profile, highlighting his ability to use both feet, his strength in aerial duels, and his high tactical understanding. The club views him as a significant reinforcement for their defensive line.
