Kotoka International Airport concourse project reaches 20% completion
Construction of the new concourse at Kotoka International Airport, designed to link Terminals 2 and 3, has reached 20% completion. Government spokesperson Felix Kwakye Ofosu announced the progress, noting that the project follows a sod-cutting ceremony performed by President John Dramani Mahama in April 2026.
The infrastructure project aims to alleviate passenger congestion, which has intensified as traffic increased from 1.8 million in 2022 to an estimated 2.5 million in 2025. Peak congestion is reported to occur between 6pm and 10pm, placing strain on check-in counters, security screening, and baggage handling.
The new facility will feature five passenger boarding bridges, modern waiting and boarding areas, VIP lounges, and retail spaces. The concourse is part of a broader effort to improve passenger movement and is intended to integrate the airport's terminal operations more effectively.
