Kotor receives Europa Nostra plaque for lace preservation project

The Europa Nostra bronze plaque was officially presented at the Cathedral of Saint Tryphon in Kotor. The award recognizes the Kotor Museums for their ‘Pacijenca’ project, which focuses on the revitalization and preservation of traditional Dobrota lace.

Sneška Kvatflik-Mihailović, General Secretary of Europa Nostra, presented the plaque to Dušica Ivetić, Director of the Kotor Museums. The ceremony was held as part of the European Heritage Days program with support from the Ministry of Culture and Media of Montenegro.

Kotor Mayor Vladimir Jokić noted that the award, arriving 24 years after Kotor’s previous recognition, confirms the city’s place within the European cultural space. The project, which began in 2021, aims to ensure the continuity of lace-making skills by teaching them to younger generations.
