Kotor recognized in global summer and medieval city rankings
Kotor, Montenegro, has received recognition in two separate travel studies. A research project by the hotel company Premier Inn, which utilized eye-tracking technology to analyze visual responses to photographs of over 60 global destinations, ranked Kotor eighth among the world's most beautiful summer destinations.
In that study, Banff, Canada, took first place, followed by Mykonos, Greece, and Sydney, Australia. The Premier Inn ranking focused on how quickly images captured attention and how long viewers gazed at them, rather than factors like infrastructure or cost.
Additionally, the Air France travel magazine EnVols named Kotor one of the ten most beautiful medieval cities in Southern Europe. The publication described the city as a ‘hidden gem from another time,’ highlighting its Venetian walls, stone streets, and views of the Bay of Kotor. Kotor was listed alongside other historic locations such as Dubrovnik, Carcassonne, and Rhodes.
