Koujinya selects Tatsuro Yamashita song for new Pure Potato commercial

Singer-songwriter Tatsuro Yamashita’s 1983 hit song ‘Koukiatsu Girl’ has been selected as the theme song for Koujinya’s new ‘Pure Potato’ television commercial. The campaign, which began airing on August 24, features actor Konna Minami.

In the commercial, Minami is seen singing the song while driving in an open car along a coastal location. Minami expressed a personal connection to the track, noting that she remembers listening to it with her parents in the car during her childhood.

Tatsuro Yamashita commented on the revival of the song 43 years after its release, stating, ‘The song has been brought back to life.’ He also shared a personal anecdote regarding the brand, noting that his family owned a confectionery shop located near the Koujinya headquarters.
