Koulé: Prophet killed and mayor injured in violent attack

A violent attack in the rural commune of Koulé, within the N’Zérékoré prefecture, resulted in the death of a religious leader known as Prophet Thomas and injuries to several others on the night of September 19, 2026.

The incident began around 8:00 PM when a suspect, identified as Ernest Koulemou, allegedly entered the Prophet's home and attacked his wife and daughter. The young girl sustained severe abdominal injuries. During an attempt to evacuate the victims to a regional hospital in N’Zérékoré via ambulance, the suspect intercepted the vehicle near the Oulé River around 11:00 PM.

Witnesses report the assailant, dressed in attire resembling military fatigues and armed with a firearm and knives, attacked the ambulance driver and subsequently stabbed Prophet Thomas. The Mayor of Koulé was also injured while attempting to intervene. Authorities have since located and arrested the suspect.
