Koulsy Lamko Cultural Center concludes summer camp for 1,200 children

The sixth edition of the free summer camp program, ‘Départ avec le Cœur’, has concluded at the Koulsy Lamko Cultural Center in N’Djamena, Chad. The initiative provided approximately 1,200 children with various educational, recreational, and vocational activities designed to foster personal development during the school holidays.

Participants received training in diverse fields, including hairdressing, sewing, dyeing, electricity, music, dance, shoemaking, and bag manufacturing. Some children were also introduced to professional paths such as law and journalism. To support the upcoming school year, the Yanlom Production association provided school kits and full scholarships to 10 orphaned children, while Deputy Weldang Mariam Dagou donated notebooks to all participants.

Jean Kevin Ngangnodji, also known as Hadre Dounia, the president of the Koulsy Lamko Cultural Center, emphasized that the program relies on voluntary dedication rather than state or international aid. He noted that the initiative aims to support all vulnerable children, regardless of whether they reside in refugee or displaced persons camps.
