Koumi Mayor Hiroshi Kurosawa found dead in mountain forest

Hiroshi Kurosawa, the 71-year-old mayor of Koumi in Nagano Prefecture, has died after being found in a mountain forest.

According to local police, Kurosawa entered the forest alone around noon on October 9 to go mushroom picking. When he failed to return home after 5:00 PM, his family began searching the surrounding area. They discovered him lying on a slope at approximately 5:20 PM.

Kurosawa was transported to a hospital, where his death was confirmed. Police noted that he had abrasions on his body and are currently investigating whether the death was caused by an accident or a sudden illness.
