Koumra launches Pink October breast cancer awareness campaign

The Pink October campaign was officially launched on October 23, 2026, at the Koumra town hall in the Mandoul Oriental province. The event was presided over by Prefect Abdoulaye Djibrine Idriss and supported by Gnanroy Grâce, the first deputy mayor and president of Entraide Koumra rose.

During the ceremony, officials emphasized the importance of prevention, screening, treatment, and relief regarding breast and cervical cancers, which are significant public health concerns in Chad. The Prefect urged women and girls to utilize hospital screening services and encouraged healthy lifestyle changes, such as improved nutrition and physical activity.

Authorities highlighted that early detection through self-examination or quick medical tests can lead to successful treatment. The initiative aims to bring healthcare services closer to local communities and ensure a continuous care pathway for those diagnosed.
