Koyo Yamamura reflects on mother Misa Yamamura’s legacy

During an appearance on the television program ‘Tetsuko no Heya’, author Koyo Yamamura reflected on the 30th anniversary of her mother Misa Yamamura’s death. Misa, known as the ‘Queen of Mystery’, passed away suddenly at age 61 while writing.

Koyo shared personal struggles regarding her identity, noting that discrepancies between her actual blood type and the one recorded in her mother’s maternal handbook led her to question her biological parentage for many years. However, upon reaching her mother’s age of 65 and beginning her own career as a novelist, Koyo discovered a profound connection through her writing style and speed, which editors noted were remarkably similar to her mother’s.

Additionally, Koyo recounted the unexpected financial burden she faced following Misa’s passing. Due to Misa’s professional habit of purchasing numerous latest home appliances to research tricks for her mystery novels, Koyo was left to settle massive bills for an extensive collection of electronics, including ten fax machines and ten refrigerators.
