Kozani: Decomposed body discovered near Monastery of the Assumption

A body in an advanced state of decomposition was discovered on Sunday afternoon, September 6, 2026, in an outdoor area in the Kasla region of Kozani, Greece. The remains were found near the Old Calendar Monastery of the Assumption by a livestock farmer, who subsequently alerted the police.

Due to the advanced stage of decomposition, authorities have not yet been able to definitively confirm the age or gender of the deceased, though preliminary estimates suggest it may be an elderly man. Some reports indicate the body may have been at the location for approximately 30 days.
