Kozani Municipality faces opposition criticism over financial service changes

Opposition members of the Kozani Municipal Council are questioning recent personnel changes within the municipality’s Financial Service. Elpida Kouimtzi-dou, leader of the main opposition, has called on the municipal administration to clarify the reasons behind the replacement of the Head of the Financial Service to ensure continued transparency and economic security for the municipality.

Kouimtzi-dou also accused the current administration, led by Mayor Kokkaliaris, of claiming credit for a positive audit report from the Court of Audit. She noted that the report pertains to the 2023 fiscal year, a period under the previous administration's responsibility.

Other opposition figures, including Mr. Ioannidis, have also criticized the moves, suggesting the reshuffle could undermine the reliability of municipal operations. Supporters of the current administration have dismissed these criticisms as populist and irresponsible, arguing that such rhetoric harms the collective efforts of municipal employees.
