Police raided a gymnasium in the Payyanakkal area of Kozhikode, Kerala, on July 18, 2026. The operation, led by the District Anti‑Narcotic Special Action Force (DANSAF) together with Panniyankara police, resulted in the arrest of three local men – Ijaz, Jamsheer and Arshad – who were alleged to have been running a drug racket from the facility.
During the raid officers seized roughly 250 grams of MDMA and 40 grams of ganja, with the contraband valued at more than Rs 10 lakh. The suspects attempted to conceal cash obtained from the sales by dumping it in a water tank, but the police overpowered them and took them into custody. A case has been filed under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and investigations continue to identify the source of the drugs and their distribution network.
