Kozhikode police arrest man for impersonating officer to sell seized drugs

Police in Kozhikode, Kerala, have arrested a man named Rozit for impersonating a sub-inspector to facilitate drug trafficking. Operating under the guise of a District Anti-Narcotics Special Action Force (DANSAF) officer, the suspect would conduct raids to seize illegal substances, specifically MDMA, from traffickers.

Instead of processing the seized drugs through legal channels, Rozit allegedly sold the confiscated narcotics to suppliers and buyers to generate significant profit. He also reportedly extorted money from individuals during these fraudulent raids.

Following complaints regarding a man posing as a sub-inspector and extorting youth, a joint operation between the DANSAF team and Feroke police led to his arrest in Ramanattukara. During the arrest, authorities recovered 2.5 grams of MDMA, along with fake police identification, handcuffs, an air pistol, and photographs of the suspect wearing a police uniform. Investigations are ongoing into his bank accounts and connections to drug smuggling networks.
