Kozluk family tragedy linked to 2.5kg gold dispute

The Batman Governor's Office has released details regarding a family tragedy in the Kozluk district, where four members of the same family lost their lives. According to preliminary findings, 29-year-old A. G. killed his wife, S. G. (27), and their two children, aged 2 and 1, using sharp objects before committing suicide by hanging.

Investigations suggest the incident is linked to a dispute involving approximately 2.5 kilograms of pure gold. Records show that on May 22, 2026, the suspect's brother-in-law, E. D., filed a complaint at the Kozluk Police Center, stating he had entrusted the gold to A. G. for safekeeping on March 6, 2026, but had subsequently been unable to reach him.

The Governor's Office also addressed social media rumors, clarifying that A. G. was not a member of the Gendarmerie, contrary to some reports. A judicial investigation is ongoing under the coordination of the Batman Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
