KPDN conducts price monitoring and poultry supply inspections in Malaysia
The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) has launched several enforcement initiatives in Malaysia. In Perlis, 38 enforcement officers have been deployed to monitor compliance with the Deepavali Festive Season Maximum Price Scheme (SHMMP), which is active until November 10. The monitoring covers 11 essential items, including mutton, tomatoes, chilies, coconuts, onions, potatoes, coconut milk, and lentils, across production, wholesale, and retail levels.
Separately, KPDN is conducting targeted inspections on wholesalers, distributors, supermarkets, and food premises that may have received poultry from a Puchong, Selangor facility with questionable slaughtering processes. Following an integrated operation by the Selangor Islamic Religious Department, it was discovered that the premises in question did not hold a Malaysia Halal Certification (SPHM) and exhibited poor hygiene and sanitation. Investigations are ongoing to determine the extent of the distribution within the Klang Valley to protect consumer rights and ensure accurate product information.
