KPDN Penang disposes of RM3 million in counterfeit goods

The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) in Penang has disposed of 58,941 units of counterfeit branded goods valued at approximately RM3.15 million. These items were seized during the first nine months of the year.

According to Director S. Jegan, the seized goods included various categories such as clothing, bags, women's accessories, vehicle spare parts, motorcycle accessories, machinery tools, food products, healthcare products, and electronic devices. The seizures were made under several laws, including the Control of Supplies Act 1961, the Trade Descriptions Act 2011, and the Trademarks Act 2019.

Throughout the year, KPDN inspected 58,805 premises, resulting in 761 enforcement actions with a total seizure value of RM4,847,055. Additionally, RM591,100 in compounds were issued across 565 cases, while 12 cases proceeded to court with total fines amounting to RM94,500.
