KPDN Sarawak investigates businesses over misleading price displays

The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) Sarawak is investigating two businesses in Kuching for allegedly misleading consumers regarding displayed prices. The enforcement operations took place on August 26 in Sejingkat and Stutong.

In Sejingkat, a trader reportedly charged a customer RM13.20 for an item displayed at RM11.50. Despite the customer pointing out the discrepancy, the trader allegedly refused to honor the advertised price. Authorities seized a business license, sales receipts, and price tags for further investigation.

A second violation was detected in Stutong involving misleading price indications. In that instance, enforcement officers seized a business license and a pair of shoes valued at RM29.90. Both cases are being investigated under Section 12(1)(a) of the Consumer Protection Act 1999.
