KPK considers summoning Ahmad Dhani in Customs corruption case

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has indicated the possibility of summoning musician and Member of Parliament Ahmad Dhani to testify in a corruption trial involving the Directorate General of Customs and Excise. This follows testimony from defendant Budiman Bayu Prasojo, a former head of the Customs Intelligence Section, who stated that an individual identifying himself as Ahmad Dhani contacted him regarding a seizure of goods.

During the trial at the Jakarta Central Corruption Court, Prasojo testified that the individual requested assistance for a relative, described as a cigarette producer, whose goods were reportedly seized due to incorrect classification. Additionally, prosecutors presented chat logs between Dhani and another defendant, Rizal, regarding the provision of free concert tickets.

Ahmad Dhani has acknowledged contacting Customs officials, clarifying that the items in question were incense or fragrances sent by a relative from abroad rather than standard imports. KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo stated that the decision to summon Dhani as a witness will depend on whether the panel of judges orders the prosecution to present him to clarify the facts of the case.
