KPK demands transparency in NTT earthquake relief funds
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has called for strict transparency in the management of disaster relief funds following a magnitude 7.7 earthquake in Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT). KPK Chairman Setyo Budiyanto emphasized that the central government must involve local authorities to ensure aid reaches its intended targets and to prevent misappropriation.
To strengthen oversight, the KPK’s Deputy for Coordination and Supervision will work directly with local governments. The agency is also encouraging public participation by opening channels for citizens to report any suspected misuse or distribution irregularities. All reports will undergo a review and assessment process to determine necessary legal actions against state officials or law enforcement officers if wrongdoing is identified.
