KPK focuses on proving corruption allegations against Yaqut Cholil Qoumas

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is focusing on the evidentiary process regarding alleged corruption in the distribution of additional Hajj quotas at the Ministry of Religious Affairs during 2023-2024. This follows a proposal from Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) clerics for the former Minister of Religious Affairs, Yaqut Cholil Qoumas, to receive an abolition.

KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo urged the public to respect the ongoing legal process at the Jakarta Corruption Court. He emphasized that witness testimonies are crucial to uncovering the full scope of the alleged irregularities in the Hajj quota management. Several witnesses from the Ministry of Religious Affairs have already testified regarding the decision-making processes involved in the quota distribution.
