KPK investigates corruption within Indonesia's Customs and Excise Directorate

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has summoned several witnesses regarding ongoing corruption investigations within the Directorate General of Customs and Excise (DJBC) under the Ministry of Finance.

On October 5, 2026, the KPK examined Susila Brata, the Director of Customs Facilities, along with two businessmen, James Mondong and Benny Tan. During court proceedings, Benny Tan testified that money provided to defendant Budiman Bayu Prasojo was intended as corporate social responsibility (CSR) for flood victims in Aceh. Meanwhile, James Mondong testified regarding a request for 50 million IDR from official Orlando Hamonangan Sianipar, which was framed as assistance for a Customs office affected by flooding in Sumatra.

The investigation follows a sting operation in February 2026 and subsequent developments in July 2026. Several individuals have already been named as suspects, including regional customs heads, intelligence officials, and representatives from Blueray Cargo.
