KPK investigates PT Cahaya Mas Cemerlang for alleged bribery in Bengkulu

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) suspects PT Cahaya Mas Cemerlang (CMC) of bribing several regency and municipal governments in Bengkulu Province. The allegations involve bribery related to wastewater treatment plant (IPAL) installation projects.

According to KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo, court facts suggest the company may have engaged in similar practices across various local governments in the region. The investigation is an expansion of a previous case in Rejang Lebong Regency, which resulted in five suspects being named following a sting operation in March 2026, including Rejang Lebong Regent Muhammad Fikri Thobari.

In July 2026, the KPK conducted searches at several locations in Bengkulu City, including the homes and offices of private entities involved in medical equipment and waste management. During a search of the home of the Bengkulu City Public Works and Spatial Planning Department Head, officials seized Rp4 billion in cash.
