KPK questions Bengkulu DPRD official in bribery probe

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) questioned Bambang Hermanto, Chairman of Commission I of the Bengkulu City DPRD, as a witness on Friday, September 4, 2026. The examination is part of an ongoing investigation into alleged bribery related to procurement projects in Rejang Lebong Regency and other areas within Bengkulu Province.

The investigation stems from a sting operation conducted on March 11, 2026, which resulted in five suspects, including Rejang Lebong Regent Muhammad Fikri Thobari. Subsequent developments have expanded the scope to include projects within the Bengkulu City Government, such as wastewater treatment plants (IPAL).

Previous investigative actions included searches of several locations in Bengkulu City, resulting in the seizure of documents, electronic evidence, and Rp4 billion in cash found at the residence of the Head of the Bengkulu City Public Works and Spatial Planning Department. Additionally, the KPK has seized a vehicle and a house belonging to another DPRD member, Vinna Ledy Anggraheni, in South Jakarta.
