KPK urges Pati Regency officials to strengthen integrity

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is urging the Pati Regency Government in Central Java to strengthen integrity and prevent the abuse of authority. This initiative follows an evaluation conducted by the KPK after a corruption case involving the Regent of Pati was uncovered.

Imam Turmudhi, Acting Director of Regional Coordination and Supervision III at the KPK, stated that the training aims to close corruption loopholes, particularly regarding the recruitment of village officials ahead of the 2027 village government agenda. He emphasized that preventing corruption requires both regulatory improvements and the cultivation of individual awareness to resist pressure and systemic weaknesses.

The evaluation identified several governance aspects requiring reform, including regulations and oversight in the recruitment of village apparatus. Turmudhi noted that even strong regulations will fail if implementation is marred by bribery, extortion, or the misuse of office. He stressed the need for a transparent and accountable system supported by officials committed to their duties.
