KPMG Australia considers $100 million loan from global network
KPMG Australia is considering a request for up to $100 million in loans from its global network to mitigate the financial impact of a whistleblower scandal. The firm may also seek a waiver of fees for the use of the KPMG brand and resources, a value estimated at a similar amount.
The potential funding comes as the consultancy faces the loss of major clients, including Macquarie and ANZ, which held contracts worth tens of millions of dollars annually. The firm is also dealing with the fallout from 2024 allegations that senior partners misused confidential information to secure work.
KPMG Australia CEO John Sams, who took the role in July, has already overseen significant job cuts. While the firm is seeking financial support to retain clients and partner pay, there are currently no indications of solvency risk.
