KPN lets customers reverse €1 mobile price hike linked to new malware filter
KPN introduced the “Extra Veilig Mobiel” malware‑filter service to its mobile plans in May, automatically adding it to most subscriptions. The addition raised the monthly price by €1 for all customers, even for those who do not activate the filter. The consumer association Consumentenbond criticised the move as a disguised price increase and opened a dialogue with KPN. As a result, KPN now provides a complaints form on its safety page that allows users to object to the extra security feature. Customers who submit an objection have the €1 surcharge removed, but they also lose access to the spam‑filter service.
The new procedure requires customers to supply their KPN account number and personal details to complete the objection form.
