KPN Monitor: Dutch viewers frustrated by streaming fragmentation
According to the latest KPN Streaming Monitor, Dutch consumers are experiencing increasing frustration with the fragmentation of the media landscape. Approximately 72 percent of viewers feel that the availability of films, series, and live sports is too widely dispersed across numerous individual platforms.
This fragmentation has a direct impact on viewing habits, as 73 percent of respondents report skipping films or series if they require a new, separate subscription. Beyond content accessibility, cost and flexibility are major concerns; over half of streaming subscribers expressed dissatisfaction with current pricing levels, while 51 percent indicated a desire for greater control to switch between services more easily.
Despite these frustrations, demand for major hits remains high, with popular programs like ‘B&B Vol Liefde’ continuing to draw large audiences across both traditional television and streaming platforms like Videoland.
