KPSC employees arrested in recruitment data leak scandal

Two employees of the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) have been arrested by the Vidhana Soudha police for allegedly leaking confidential recruitment information to middlemen. The accused, technical assistant Sharanappa Adavalli and senior assistant Swamidass, are suspected of disclosing details regarding the final selection list for Junior Engineer (Civil and Mechanical) positions in the Water Resources Department. Police state the suspects provided sensitive data, including candidate serial numbers, to brokers who used the information to solicit bribes from candidates by promising employment.

The KPSC recruitment scandal has become a central issue for opposition parties in Karnataka. The BJP and JD(S) have announced plans to jointly challenge the state government during the upcoming legislative assembly session starting August 13. The opposition intends to raise several grievances, including the KPSC irregularities, alleged misuse of Gruha Lakshmi scheme funds, police recruitment issues, the Bidadi Township project, and the state's drought situation.
