The Constitutional Court of Indonesia is currently presiding over a legal dispute regarding the educational credentials of Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka. The case, filed by 12 petitioners, questions the validity of the documents used during his 2024 candidacy.

During recent hearings, Taufiq Damarjati, a member of the Ministry of Education's assessment team, testified that the documents submitted for Gibran's studies at UTS Insearch in Australia consisted of a certificate of attendance and transcripts rather than a formal diploma.

Hasyim Asy’ari, the former Chairman of the General Elections Commission (KPU), testified as a witness for the respondents. He denied any administrative misconduct, asserting that PKPU Number 19 of 2023 allows for candidates to provide higher education credentials in lieu of high school graduation proof. Asy’ari also noted that the KPU's legal relationship regarding candidate documentation is with political parties, not the candidates themselves.

The Constitutional Court is expected to deliver its final decision on October 5, 2026.
