Krabi enhances tourism safety and transport infrastructure
Authorities in Krabi are implementing new measures to enhance road safety and transportation infrastructure to support the tourism sector.
To address accidents involving foreign tourists, the Krabi provincial administration and the Ao Nang Car Rental Club have proposed seven safety measures. These include establishing a joint task force to review international driving license standards, creating a centralized database of valid license types, and implementing stricter screening processes for rental companies. The goal is to ensure tourists possess valid documentation and adequate knowledge of local traffic laws before renting vehicles.
Simultaneously, Deputy Minister of Transport Sanphet Boonyamanee has been inspecting major transport projects in the province. Key developments include the renovation of the Sala Dan pier on Koh Lanta, expected to be completed by September 15, 2026, and efforts to repair the aging Ban Lo Yai pier. Additionally, officials are working on the ‘Andaman Ring’ maritime connection, a ferry network designed to link Krabi, Koh Yao, and Phuket.
