Kraft Heinz recovers water from tomatoes at Pudliszki plant
Kraft Heinz is implementing water recovery processes at its production facility in Pudliszki, Poland. During the production of tomato concentrate, a significant portion of the water naturally contained in the tomatoes is separated and reused within the technological process.
The recovered water reaches temperatures of approximately 70–75°C and is used to preheat raw materials, raising the temperature of the tomatoes by 25–30°C before the next processing stage. This water is then cycled back into the system to assist in transporting tomatoes within the plant, with a flow rate of approximately 70 m³ per hour.
Wojciech Roesler, the factory director for Kraft Heinz Poland, noted that this method allows the company to practically utilize resources already present in the raw materials. To ensure quality and continuity, tomatoes are typically transported from the fields to the plant within a few to several dozen hours of being harvested.
