Krafton and Seoul National University launch joint AI World Model research

Krafton and Seoul National University have launched a joint research initiative focused on ‘World Models’ to bridge the gap between virtual gaming environments and physical robotics. The three-year project aims to develop AI capable of understanding current environments and predicting how they will change based on specific actions.

Key research objectives include maintaining spatial and object consistency in long-form video generation, connecting human and object movements using game motion data, and verifying an AI’s ability to judge physical dimensions, such as the width of a passage or distance to an object. The partnership will also establish a joint research center to facilitate talent exchange, student internships, and the development of performance benchmarks.

This collaboration follows a previous industry-academic agreement and leverages Krafton’s expertise in simulation and virtual world construction. The company is actively expanding into ‘physical AI,’ having established the robotics research entity Ludo Robotics in both the United States and South Korea.
