Krafton cancels PUBG: Black Budget extraction shooter

Krafton and PUBG Studios have officially cancelled the development of ‘PUBG: Black Budget’, a tactical extraction shooter spin-off. The project, which featured a PvPvE setting on a remote island filled with supernatural anomalies, had undergone closed alpha testing in December and subsequent playtests over the summer.

In a statement released on Steam, the developers explained that after reviewing the project’s development status and future direction, they concluded that the current path would not allow them to ‘deliver an experience players could enjoy over the long term.’

This cancellation follows the earlier discontinuation of ‘PUBG: Blindspot’ in March. While the original PUBG: Battlegrounds remains highly popular, the studio intends to apply the lessons learned from the Black Budget development process to future projects.
