KRAFTON faces massive boycott in Vietnam over PUBG player bans
A major communication crisis is unfolding in the Vietnamese esports scene following a decision by KRAFTON regarding two prominent players, Himass and TanVuu. During the PUBG Asia Stars friendly tournament, the players faced allegations from opponents, leading KRAFTON to issue a permanent competitive ban and a global account lockout.
The decision has triggered a massive boycott in Vietnam. Gamers have responded by uninstalling the game, leaving negative reviews on Steam, and various esports organizations and content creators are considering withdrawing from the game’s ecosystem.
This backlash has also inadvertently impacted VNGGames, the local publisher. While the initial anger was directed at the PC version, some players have extended their protests to PUBG Mobile, creating an unintended crisis for the Vietnamese publishing team.
