Kragujevac proposed as Serbia's capital by Bogoljub Karić
Bogoljub Karić, founder of the Pokret snaga Srbije, has proposed a new administrative model for Serbia. He suggests reinstating Kragujevac as the nation's capital while designating Belgrade as its primary economic, financial, and technological metropolis, similar to the relationship between Washington and New York or Ottawa and Toronto.
Karić argues that Kragujevac holds historical significance as a foundation of the modern Serbian state. His proposal includes significant government downsizing, suggesting the National Assembly be reduced from 250 to 125 deputies and the number of ministries cut from 30 to 12. He emphasized that the goal is to create a smaller, more efficient administration, with displaced civil servants being retrained for roles in the private sector and digital economy.
