Krajna apples receive official European Union protection

Krajna apples have officially entered the European Union's system of protected agricultural product names. As of August 4, these fruits are subject to special EU protection, ensuring that only producers who meet specific quality requirements and operate within the designated geographical area of southern Krajna can use the name "Krajna apples."

This marks the 50th Polish product to be registered under the EU's protection system for agricultural products and foodstuffs. The registration aims to guarantee authenticity for consumers and provide producers with name protection and increased market recognition. These apples, which include varieties such as Gala, Golden Delicious, Red Jonaprince, and Szampion, are noted for having higher sugar content and greater firmness than the same varieties grown elsewhere, due to the specific climatic conditions and mineral-rich soils of the Krajna region.
