Krakatoa Resources accelerates Zopkhito exploration in Georgia
Krakatoa Resources has accelerated its 2026 exploration program at the Zopkhito Antimony-Gold Project in Georgia by deploying a second drill rig. The company aims to modernize historical resource estimates into a JORC-compliant Mineral Resource Estimate (MRE).
Initial results from diamond drilling have identified high-grade mineralization. One notable drill hole, DDZOP26001, reported 1.8 million tonnes of material containing 11.09 grams of gold per tonne and 3.56% antimony. Individual samples have yielded even higher concentrations, with peaks of 17.1 grams per tonne for gold and 15.3% for antimony.
The project, located approximately 170 km from Kutaisi, leverages extensive legacy data including over 20 kilometers of underground adits. The discovery of mineralization in areas outside historical estimates suggests the mineralization system may be more extensive than previously identified. The company is also proceeding with metallurgical optimization testwork and environmental baseline studies.
