Kraken expands to US stock trading for European investors
Kraken has expanded its services in the European Economic Area (EEA) by allowing eligible customers to trade more than 7,000 US-listed stocks. This regulated service is provided through Payward Europe Digital Solutions (CY) Limited, an investment firm authorized under MiFID II and regulated by the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission.
The platform enables users to trade traditional American shares alongside over 600 crypto assets and more than 700 xStocks, which are tokenized versions of US equities backed one-to-one by underlying shares. This integration allows investors to access both conventional and digital assets within a single account. Mark Greenberg, Chief Commercial Officer of Payward, stated that the launch eliminates the “artificial divide between traditional and tokenized formats of the same asset.”
In the United States, Kraken’s payment app, Krak, has launched a multi-asset debit card. Issued by Lead Bank on the Visa network and powered by Stripe Issuing, the card allows users to spend both cryptocurrency and fiat, offering up to 2% cashback in dollars or Bitcoin based on average assets held across Kraken platforms.
